Meeting starts at the state inspectors office - Mikheil Saakashvili's lawyers to view video evidence

Lawyers of Georgia's third president went to the state inspector's office. During the meeting with the representatives of the agency, the lawyers will review the video footage showing the transfer of Mikheil Saakashvili from Rustavi prison to the Gldani prison.

CEO of the Mtavari Channel and lawyer of the third President Nika Gvaramia said before the meeting that after viewing the footage the issue of not only inhuman treatment but also qualification of torture was raised.

"The most important thing for us now is the access to the case material. First of all we are interested in the video materials provided by the Penitentiary Service and the Ministry of Justice to the state inspector. We don't know the content or the timing, nor do we know whether it was continuous footage or was it edited. We have not seen anything yet. From what we have seen, it is the footage from the Ministry of Justice, which does not reflect reality, but from what we have seen, the inhuman and degrading treatment is visible from there. However, if we look at the rest of the footage, we can already talk about the qualification of torture. In any case, this material is crucial for us," said Nika Gvaramia.
