The next trial of Mikheil Saakashvili in the border crossing case will be held on February 24

Another trial of Mikheil Saakashvili was held in the Tbilisi City Court on the border crossing case. At today's hearing, several witnesses for the prosecution were questioned.

In addition, the defence pleaded that on the basis of Mikheil Saakashvili's statement about the refusal of admission of doctors the judge made a ruling and instructed the Special Penitentiary Service to investigate this fact, although Judge Chakhnashvili did not grant the request.

The third president himself attended today's hearing and addressed the public. Mikheil Saakashvili said that despite his serious health condition his personal physician has not been allowed into the prison for 5 weeks and demanded to immediately allow the doctors to enter the facility. The third president also spoke about the events surrounding Ukraine and expressed support for the friendly country.

In parallel with the session, a protest was held in front of the court, where supporters once again demanded the release of the third president.

The next court session on the border crossing case is scheduled for February 24, at 12:00.
