Anzor Chubinidze refuses to testify in court

The head of the SDSS refused to testify in court about the jacket case. Anzor Chubinidze used Article 15 of the Code of Procedure and explained that any word he said today could be used against him again by the defense, so he refused to testify.

In addition, he clarified that he has been working as the head of the SSPS since February 2013 and the indictment covers the period up to 2009-13, so he has nothing to do with the indictment and it is unclear why the defense was summoned him at all.

"I have been working as an SSPS supervisor since February 2013. I know about the embezzlement of property of Mikhail Saakashvili and Teimuraz Janashia. I know this stage and the charge refers to the period before 2009-2013. I was not the head of the service during that period and had nothing to do with it. I am called here as a witness for the defense. Frankly, I do not understand why Anzor Chubinidze, was called to strengthen the defense position. Therefore I have to confirm that I had and have nothing to do with this during 2009-2013," said Chubinidze.

According to Chubinidze, the prosecutor's office is also investigating the period in 2013, when he was already the head of the SSPS.

"I want to clarify, it is common knowledge that the Prosecutor General's Office is investigating the 2013 period when I was already the head of the service. There is an investigation into the legality of spending money in favor of Mikhail Saakashvili. I have nothing to do with the episode of the prosecution that is being discussed today. Therefore, any word, phrase or position that I have said today can be interpreted in such a manner that it can be used against me in the future," said Chubinidze.

In response to this argument, Mikhail Saakashvili's lawyer explained to him that his involvement in the case had been confirmed by the prosecutor's office when the case materials were seized from the SSPS, and it happened while Chubinidze was in charge.
