"If Georgia extradites Mikheil Saakashvili to Ukraine, it will be the first and good sign of our friendship - Member of the Rada

"If Georgia extradites Mikheil Saakashvili to Ukraine, this will be the first and a good sign of our friendship," Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Marikovskyi said in an interview with the Mtavari Channel.

According to him, Mikheil Saakashvili showed the whole world and Europe that he is a Ukrainian and respects the culture and traditions of the country.

Marikovskyi also said that the Ukrainian government must work on Mikheil Saakashvili's return to Ukraine, while the Georgian government must show a gesture of friendship by allowing him to return to Ukraine.

It will be a complicated issue related to his status in Georgia. The whole world can believe that Mikheil Saakashvili is a political prisoner. He is a citizen of Ukraine and the state is fully responsible for the protection of his rights, and Ukraine should request his extradition. Today Mikhail Saakashvili has shown the whole world and Europe that he is a Ukrainian and respects our culture and traditions.

At the same time it means that Ukraine can bring him back, I think the Ukrainian government should send a clear signal to the international community that they want him back. He's role and importance for Ukraine is great. He can pursue a policy of geopolitical importance for Ukraine and fight the aggression of Putin's regime.

That is why his issue is high on our agenda. Ukraine must protect its citizens in trouble and send all necessary signals to Georgia. I can't say anything about the resolution, but Ukraine must ask the Georgian government to agree to extradite Mikheil Saakashvili...

If Georgia extradites Mikhail Saakashvili to Ukraine, it will be the first and good sign of our friendship. We must find every way to bring him back to Ukraine," Marikovskyi said.
