Those involved in the torture of Mikheil Saakashvili will be prosecuted and may be put on the wanted list, including by Interpol - Grushovets

According to the lawyer of Georgia's third president, Evgeny Grushovets, after the Ukrainian prosecutor's office recognizes Mikheil Saakashvili as a victim, an investigation will be launched and the law enforcers involved in the torture will be brought to justice.

As the lawyer noted, the effectiveness of the investigation will partly depend on whether the Georgian government is willing to provide the Ukrainian side with the necessary documents.

"This is a lawful decision made by the Ukrainian authorities. This decision confirms that the Ukrainian authorities, including the prosecutor's office, consider Mikheil Saakashvili a victim. Undoubtedly, an investigation will be launched against the security forces who tortured Mikheil Saakashvili.

[...] We hope that the investigation will yield results considering that the crime took place on the territory of Georgia. The outcome of the investigation will also depend on whether the Georgian government is willing to provide us with the necessary documents. The Ukrainian authorities have the means to identify the persons they are charging. "They will be charged, and they may be put on the wanted list, including by Interpol," Evgeny Grushovets said.
