Recognition of Mikheil Saakashvili as a victim removes grounds for keeping him in prison

Beka Basilaia, lawyer of the third president, recently arrived at the 12th penitentiary in Rustavi. According to him, Mikheil Saakashvili is not allowed to see his personal doctor and members of the alternative board, which is a gross violation of his rights as a patient.

Basilaia says Saakashvili's condition is not improving because of inadequate medical care.

"Mikheil Saakashvili, a political prisoner and political hostage of Bidzina Ivanishvili, has been recognized as a victim by the Ukrainian prosecutor's office, which means that the crimes committed against him in the Georgian penitentiary system eliminate any legal, moral grounds for Mikheil Saakashvili to remain in prison, especially when we know that the cases against him are fabricated," Beka Basilaia said.
