The Special penitentiary service claims that no restrictions were applied to Mikheil Saakashvili:
"Regarding the statement made by the lawyer of convicted Mikheil Saakashvili, we clarify that no new restrictions imposed by the service have been applied, and the disseminated information does not correspond to reality.
Convicted M. Saakashvili is fully informed about his rights. It should be noted that according to the order of the Director General of the Special Penitentiary Service, the convict, was sent to a closed-type pre-trial detention facility. According to Article 65 of the prisoners codex, a convict serving his sentence in a closed pre-trial detention facility is entitled to one short-term visit [rt month and one additional short-term visit per month as an incentive.
Convicted M. Saakashvili is also informed that he can have two long visits per year, and as an incentive - one additional, long visit per year.
Regarding the state of health of the convict, we explain that M. Saakashvili is under constant supervision of the medical staff of the penitentiary institution N12. With his consent, laboratory indicators are monitored and instrumental diagnostics are carried out, regular consultations of various medical specialists are carried out and treatment is prescribed. It should be noted that the convict refuses to consult a psychotherapist," the report says.
