The lawyer of Mikheil Saakashvili reacts to the penitentiary institution's statement restricting the right to visit Georgia's third president. According to Beka Basilaia, the agency's explanation once again confirms that the state has decided to take revenge on Mikheil Saakashvili, the reason being Ukraine's recognition of him as a victim.

"The Penitentiary Service's statement confirms that the state has decided to take revenge on Mikheil Saakashvili for being recognised by Ukraine as a victim. During this period he had the opportunity to have visitors several times during the month, which he used. The 12th penitentiary is a semi-open facilitiy and anyone staying there has the right to have a visitor twice a month," Beka Basilaia said.
