Lawyers of Georgia's third president are once again calling on the State Inspectorate to make public the video footage of the inhuman treatment of Mikheil Saakashvili.
The so-called watch episode, captured in Gori hospital, was viewed by the third president's lawyers in the office of the State Inspectorate, although the footage from the surveillance camera, where the full abuse material was supposed to be recorded, has been deleted.
The case file only has footage from guards shoulder camera showing Mikheil Saakashvili being abused, although the third president's lawyer Dimitri Sadzaglishvili suggests that other people were involved in the incident who are not seen on the shoulder camera.
"Of course we knew this story from word of mouth and expected it to be difficult to watch, but we did not expect it to be so hard to see. This situation and the violence is exacerbated by the immoral nature of the violence itself, when it becomes clear that the system deliberately insults the third president of Georgia and does so at the bedside of a patient, allegedly after he has been transferred to the Gori military hospital for treatment. In reality the fact is that it has never been the aim of the Georgian government to keep Mikheil Saakashvili healthy. On the contrary, when we talk about Saakashvili's health problems, these problems are the result of torture and inhuman treatment he received both at the Gldani 18th Institution and at the Gori Military Hospital.
We are still asking for this video to be made public because the Ministry of Justice and the government have selectively published the edited video. It is true that the material published by them confirms the fact of torture and inhuman treatment, but the full video material, including the unreleased episode of Gori Military Hospital, will prove with certainty that the torture and inhuman treatment of Saakashvili took place. Every citizen will have an opportunity to see with their own eyes how inhuman and immoral the treatment of the third president is, which is indeed a disgrace for this country," said Dimitri Sadzaglishvili.
