40-volume case and testimony from more than 60 witnesses - Judge rushes to sentence Nika Gvaramia and gives 2 days for the final speech

Published:

Nika Gvaramia's trial at Tbilisi City Court ended a few minutes ago, and the judge is in a rush to pass judgment on the case of the CEO of the Mtavari Channel;

At the next hearing, on February 25 the prosecution will deliver its closing speech and in two days, on February 28 the defence will deliver its final speech after which Lasha Chkhikvadze will give his verdict.

Nika Gvaramia used his right at today's trial and refused to be interrogated, and he is going to present his position in his final speech.

He asked for time, 2 weeks based on the volume of the case. The case consists of more than 40 volumes and contains more than 60 witnesses, but the judge did not take this into account and allotted only 2 days, which are also Saturday-Sunday.

According to Nika Gvaramia, if Chkhivadze does not change the date, he will not be able to deliver the final speech.

"The prosecution will have its closing speech on the 25th followed by Saturday-Sunday and my closing speech on the 28th. It turns out that more than 60 witnesses have been questioned, it's a 40-volume case. I said that I was not interested in the interrogation.

Against this background when i hear that I have to have my concluding speech on the huge case in 2 days of preparation, I have to listen to about 60 witnesses in terms of audio and then write, so I did not speak today and I am not going to listen to the prosecutor and I will come here on the 28th, I have no opportunity to say my final word, so I will not use that right either. What the judge does is no longer up to me," Nika Gvaramia said.
