I clearly state that we are not going to participate in financial and economic sanctions - Garibashvili

According to Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Georgia will not join sanctions imposed on Russia by international partners.

According to him, this would "harm the national interests of the country".

"We are aware of the actions of our international partners that led to the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, I mean economic and financial sanctions. I want to clearly and unambiguously state that it is in our national interest that Georgia is not going to participate in financial and economic sanctions. Our country and population will suffer greatly from it," said Garibashvili.

Regarding the issue of holding a security council, he answered

Our government, under my leadership, is pursuing a national policy. Conducting the Security Council with PR and putting on some kind of show is not my signature. I am thinking only about the matter and the interests of my country. Naturally, I had a discussion with the security cabinet all day yesterday about the information that was provided to our services, which is an integral part of my daily work. In this situation, there is no need to hold a Security Council meeting today.
