The Ambassador of the United States of America was met with banners in Gori - the residents of the village of Ruisi wanted to remind Kelly Degnan once again that the country has a pro-Russian government.
The American diplomat has been holding meetings in Gori since morning. She first met with local government officials and then visited the Red Cross Gori organization.
Degnan spoke to local officials about the upcoming elections and the difficult situation along the occupation line.
This is my first visit to Gori and it is a great honor to be here. I had some very fruitful meetings where we discussed the sad reality that has developed at the so-called dividing line, - said the US Ambassador.
Residents of the village of Ruisi met Degnan with banners. They say both the central and local governments are pro-Russian, as evidenced by their recent decisions. We are talking about the transfer of part of the territory of the village of Ruisi to a Russian company.
The U.S. Ambassador did not meet with the locals in person. She is currently reviewing projects funded by the USAID and is planning to visit Gori prison.
