Postponing elections is meaningless, the Dream is doomed to defeat - The Opposition

Published:

It is unknown at this time whether the parliamentary elections will be postponed. The opposition links the possible postponement of the parliamentary elections in December with the political plans of Bidzina Ivanishvili and the Georgian Dream.

Apparently, they have decided to use pandemic and constitutional amendments in the joint tandem to make appropriate notes that would allow them to manipulate the election date. We will have a very strong reaction to that, because the constitution should set a date for the elections so that the government cannot engage in such manipulations, and secondly, it is very dangerous for the democratic process in the country and most importantly it is completely useless for the Georgian Dream," - said Salome Samadashvili, a member of the Political Council of the United National Movement.

According to her, it makes no sense for the ruling party to take this step, because it is doomed to political failure in the autumn elections.

"European Georgia" calls on the Government to refrain from harmful provocations.

Any speculation that the election date could be changed is simply harmful, as there is no indication today that anything could get so complicated that it would postpone  the election. No matter when the elections are held, the Georgian dream is doomed to defeat and the opposition is doomed to come to power," - said Levan Tarkhnishvili, a member of the political council of European Georgia.
