Part of the opposition finds interesting the initiative of Mikheil Saakashvili, regarding a unified proportional list in the parliamentary elections. The other part of the government’s opponents does not support the initiative of the third president of the country and says that it is important to agree on majoritarian candidates to win the elections. As for the proportional list, they say the opposition has a diverse electorate and voters should be given the opportunity to vote for the party they actually support.
Mikheil Saakashvili has presented his vision and there is no difference of opinion from our side, but of course it is a proposal that requires participation of other parties. We have to put the interests of the party on the second place today and the main thing today is to take steps towards the defeat of the Ivanishvili regime" - said Salome Samadashvili, a member of the Political Council of the National Movement.
According to Giorgi Vashadze, the chairman of New Georgia, the opposition parties must do everything possible to change Ivanishvili's regime.
Now it is very important that the opposition stances in the majority districts are finally formed, and we all should do our best to ensure that this agreement takes place, because the society is waiting for it. The main task for us should be to save the country from the enclave of Ivanishvili, which is robbing our people, - said Giorgi Vashadze.
The initiative on the unified proportional lists is unacceptable for the political union Lelo.
We have stated from the very beginning that this is not acceptable for us and we remain committed to the statement we have made to our members and our supporters, - said Anna Natsvlishvili.
Grigol Vashadze, leader of the United National Movement, spoke in detail about the unified majoritarian candidates in the "Main Accents" program. He said that the National Movement would nominate its candidates only in two constituencies.
It doesn't matter what the answer is. Our proposal that the National Movement, I emphasize, will nominate candidates in only two constituencies is still valid, - he said.
