The Russian army must leave Georgia and Ukraine- the US Ambassador to the OSCE, James S. Gilmore said in his statement.
In an interview with Igor Kuroptev, a journalist for the Border Zone Project, Gilmore said that the Georgian population does not want to be part of the Russian state.
According to him, the Georgian people want to have their own country, which allows them to move towards the West and become part of the Western society.
What is happening now is that these people are separatists. This is still the territory of Georgia. Efforts to establish any border are not in line with the principles of territorial integrity in Europe. It is very simple, the Russian army has to leave and then it will be possible to talk about a real referendum in order to make a decision about the future of the country under international control, - said the Ambassador.
According to James S. Gilmore, residents of Tskhinvali and Abkhazia can live comfortably and freely in Georgia, which will be unconditionally supported by the United States.
