"I urge everyone who wants and can help to respond. We must protect the people of Kiev and take into account the needs of the residents of this city," Klitschko wrote.
The mayor writes that amid intense shelling of the city, the elderly, people with disabilities and parents of young children are the first to be helped.
"I have appealed to large and medium-sized businesses, international organizations, foreign partners in Kyiv and Ukraine to raise funds and replenish the fund. Business has already been started its aid, humanitarian aid is being sent from cities in Europe towards some cities in Ukraine," he said.
