Exactly one week ago, at 4am, Russia invaded our independent country. It is a bitter display of aggression and a mania of praise and persecution - this is how Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky began his address exactly one week after the war began in the country.

He spoke about the strong struggle of the Ukrainians and said that this would continue. According to him, the enemy has not made strategic progress:

They have a heavy psychological problem, as the traces left by a missile. Rocket artillery, tanks and other combat vehicles are fighting against us. The first hours and days of the war were calculated to be a large-scale invasion, although we, united, held firm. We will continue to do so. We are fighting so fiercely that the enemy is forced to change strategy.

Rocket fire on Ukrainian population centres shows that the enemy has achieved nothing of value. The enemy has had no success in any strategic direction. Kiev has resisted yet another rocket attack. The enemy wants to take our cities, but cannot. The enemy wants to take Odessa, but they will instead reach the bottom of the Black Sea. The enemy has targeted the ancient monastery of Kharkov. The holy place of the Orthodox. At this stage, the monastery is a refuge for the people of Kharkov. There are traces of the war in the holy place. Russians think that God does not punish. God does not punish sins immediately, but He sees and knows that there is no hiding place. There is no hiding place where you can hide from God. We will do our best to make sure that there is no trace of war on the monastery. If you destroy all the monasteries and churches in Ukraine, you cannot take away the faith from Ukrainian people. We have faith in God and in Ukraine. We will repair every building, every street and every city.

We call upon the enemy, learn the word reparation and contribution. Because you will regret what you have done against us, against every Ukrainian. You will regret with the full meaning of the word. And we Ukrainians will never forget those who died. You came here to destroy our cities, kill our people and take everything of value. You leave people without drinking water, light and heating. You do not allow people to use food or medicine. You shoot at evacuation vehicles. There is no weapon you do not use against our people.

And now your propagandists come out and claim that the so-called you will send humanitarian aid. Remember, you wicked ones, when millions of people curse you, you can never be redeemed.

Ukraine is receiving military aid from partners every day, foreign volunteers are arriving. Imagine, they have come to defend our homeland. I am confident that it will be successful. Throughout the history of our country we have overcome 2 World Wars, 3 Holodomor, Holocaust, Babin Yar, the Great Terror, the Chernobyl explosion, the occupation of the Crimea and the war in the East of Ukraine. We have no territories stretching from ocean to ocean, nor do we have nuclear weapons. We cannot supply the world market with oil and gas, but we have the most precious thing - we have people and we have a homeland. This is our gold and we are fighting for it. Many times they wanted to break us, but they could not. He wanted to bring Ukraine to the ground, but they could not. They shot us in the back, but we are standing. They want us to be silent, but our voice was heard all over the world. After all that Ukraine has gone through, if someone thinks that we will break, surrender or fall, they know nothing about us, they know nothing about Ukraine. Such person has nothing to do with us here. He is a stranger. Go home to Russia and protect your Russian-speaking people. Do not look for Russian-speakers elsewhere, enough in Russia, you have 150 million. Glory to Ukraine," Zelensky said.
