"Even if he has a fever, it cannot be used to restrict his rights" | Mikheil Saakashvili still not allowed to see his doctor

For the second day now the health of Georgia's third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, is unknown. According to the Prison Service, he has a fever and is isolated.

Despite requests from his lawyers, he has not been allowed to see his personal doctor. No lawyers were allowed to see him yesterday for the same reason.

" Under the conditions when we meet Mikhail Saakashvili with visitors behind the separation wall illegally set up by the Penitentiary Service, it is absurd to claim that the restriction of visitors is due to some objective reasons. This is a punitive operation against Mikheil Saakashvili for recent events. Trust in the penitentiary service is naturally low, but even if Mikheil Saakashvili has a fever, this cannot be used as a tool to restrict his rights," lawyer Shota Tutberidze said.

Doctors themselves say it is necessary to treat the third president. Neurologist Otar Toidze says the third president should be examined by a doctor well versed in his neurological dynamics.

"How can he have a covid, because we know that he is already in isolation and they can only go to him after testing, I mean lawyers. So we have to assume he was infected from internal staff.  In any case he should be tended by his doctor, who has seen him earlier and knows his neurological condition. He already has a serious illness, and the complication of the symptoms he has is difficulty walking, inability to stand for long periods of time, paralysis of the motor nerves in his eye, and memory problems," said Otar Toidze.
