Former KGB officer, now US citizen and journalist Yuri Shvets says in his video blog that some states, including Georgia, are in secret talks with the Kremlin. He said these countries had agreed to help Moscow avoid sanctions.
"It has come to light that a number of countries, including sovereign states, have held secret talks with the Kremlin and agreed to help Moscow bypass the sanctions imposed on Russia last week, including Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. For example, Tbilisi has become an air transport hub, from Russia to other countries and back, which means Russian planes with goods will land there, Russian goods will be repackaged into Georgian goods and then products made in Russia will be exported as Georgian products," said Yuri Shvets.
Today, Minister of Economy Levan Davitashvili denied the information after the government meeting and called it a provocation.
Earlier, Ukrainian media reported that the Georgian government lied to the Ukrainian embassy about talks with Russia during the ongoing war in Ukraine. The publication said that the Georgian government on Sunday issued a statement with controversial content to Georgian consumers and the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
