I am heartbroken at what the occupiers have done to our country and what they are about to do - a new address by Volodymyr Zelensky

Published:

The Ukrainian president has delivered a new address. The 15 days of war in Ukraine and devastated cities, civilian casualties and the bombing of the Mariupol hospital were the main issues Zelensky focused on.

He spoke to Russian propagandists and addressed Western leaders:

Dear Ukrainians, Yesterday information was spread about the dead in the bombing of a hospital and maternity hospital in Mariupol. Three people were killed. One of them, a little girl. Seventeen were seriously injured. Among the injured are children, women and medics.

The explosion was also reported on Russian television, but not a word was said about the incident. The Russians lied that there were no patients in the hospital, that there were no women or children in the building.

They lied to their citizens as if "nationalists" were entrenched in the building. They continue to spread lies, as they always have.

Committing these crimes is not possible without the propagandists who support them. Your propagandists will be punished, just like those who drop these bombs.

We will find all the government-affiliated propagandists and people associated with them. We will do our best to confiscate their assets wherever they are.

Do you like luxurious lives and rich countries?! - Say goodbye, there won't be any more. And this is just the beginning. You will surely be punished for your complicity in hostilities. It is bound to happen, and then you will be hated by Russian citizens too.

All those who were lied to yesterday, today and for years, when they feel the consequences of your lies in their lives, when they feel that their children's future was stolen from them, you will not be forgiven, because the guilt will not remain hidden.

Today we are organising a new humanitarian corridor. Buses and trucks are already on their way with water, food and medicines. Trucks will arrive in Mariupol, Volnovakha, Izyum, Sumy and other cities, as well as in the Kyiv region, including Bucha, Borodyanka, Irpen and Gostomel.

I am heartbroken at what the occupiers have done to our country and what they are going to do. The Russian occupiers have already created a humanitarian disaster in Ukraine, although this is part of the plan they intend to implement. They are trying to bring our people to their knees and take water and bread from the occupiers. Ukrainians are being forced to live only in the occupied territories or in Russia. To this end, they have besieged Mariupol, Volnovakha and other cities.

The occupiers are doing all this only to get their TV propagandists to talk about it. Yesterday we evacuated over 60,000 of our citizens to the peace zone with the help of humanitarian corridors.

Today we spoke about the current situation in the country with German Chancellor Scholz, French President Macron, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, from whom I heard that our anti-war coalition is getting stronger. There will also be more pressure on Russia. The attitude of western leaders is very important to us because we are fighting for independence and freedom.

Our goal is to be on an equal footing with people living in a democratic and civilized world. That is why we want to see real solutions from our partners, not abstract promises.

In the coming days, the European Union will announce a wide-ranging discussion of the war initiated by Russia in Ukraine to discuss our accession to the European Union. We look forward to concrete action, as this will be a just solution from both a human and a European perspective.

We know exactly which European leader has what position, and which European leader thinks that the EU is a mere accounting firm.

Ukrainians, we, our army and each of us have been defending our homeland for 15 days. Our policemen, guards, soldiers take back strategic objectives. Many thanks to each of them for not allowing the enemy to capture us. This is unacceptable to our pride. When the war is over, we will soon build everything that was destroyed. There will be a new reconstruction program for each city, which I have already ordered. A project plan is being worked on now.

Our cities, where this Russian evil came from, will not be able to feel traces of this evil after the reconstruction.

I will tell you by the example of Kharkiv, we will rebuild everything that the enemy destroyed and Freedom Square in Kharkiv will be different and beautiful, where we will all stand together, and I personally promise you this. Kharkiv's citizens will feel that Ukraine supports them. I promise you. Glory to Ukraine - Says Zelensky.
