We cannot yet say how long it will take us to expel the enemy from our land, but we will definitely do so. "We have already made a strategic turn in the war and are getting closer to our victory, but as I tell you, it will take time," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his new address.
The Ukrainian president claims that the occupiers have created a humanitarian disaster in the country, recruited hired Syrian assassins and bombed humanitarian corridors.
He also commented on the decision taken in the EU:
"We have been at war with the enemy for 16 days now and that is four times more than they thought. We are at war with one of the strongest armies in the world, who thought Ukraine would surrender. They thought that people in Ukrainian streets would meet them with flowers. Everything happened on the contrary. Ukrainians are a proud people. They will not give up an inch of their land and will always defend it.
When we see our army fighting the enemy and destroying the enemy army, we hope that it will be over soon. But we should not forget that this is war. We must be patient and fight. We cannot yet say how long it will take us to drive the enemy from our land, but we will surely do so. We have already made a strategic turn in the war and are approaching our victory, but as I tell you, it will take time. We are facing a war with a principled and stubborn enemy. A country that is even sending reservists to fight with us.
At the same time, Syrian mercenaries have been sent against us. Let's not forget that Syria was destroyed, as they are now trying to destroy our country. They sent Syrians who couldn't even guess who spoke which language or who went to which church. They came here for the money.
Several regions were left without water, heating and electricity. In the full sense of the word this is a humanitarian catastrophe at the fault of the Russian Federation.
Houses and kindergartens in Dnieper were bombed. What kind of threat could these institutions pose to Russia?! Settlements in Sumy, Mariupol and Kharkiv were bombed.
Sanctions against Russia are not enough and I expect even more new and harsher restrictions. Russia has an obligation to answer for the crimes committed.
Yesterday there were talks between the leaders of the EU member states. We know what the leader was talking about, I know who supported us and who kept silent. How will I evaluate the decision made? You have to be stronger and appreciate what we are waiting for you, and the decision of the European politicians should be in accordance with the wishes of their people.
We know very well that the people of Europe support us. I am sure that if the politicians do not understand it, the people will definitely understand. The EU should do more for us and for Europe. We are looking forward to this.
If the invader tries to block the humanitarian corridors opened today and open fire, they will get a harsh response. We will take it to the level that they themselves will need to open the humanitarian corridor. Living with a neighbour like Russia is not easy, but as everyone has seen, neither with us! Glory to Ukraine," said Zelensky.
