The speech of the Mtavari Channel's representative at Ned Price's press conference was shameful and traitorous - Kobakhidze

Irakli Kobakhidze described as shameful the question of the journalist of the Mtavari Channel Demna Devdariani, asked the US State Department press secretary. Chairman Dream dedicated a special briefing on the subject today.

"Disgraceful and traitorous was the speech delivered yesterday by the representative of the Georgian National Movement's Mtavari Channel at Ned Price's press conference, which was also based on lies and was aimed at damaging the image of the Georgian state and government," Kobakhidze said.

The Georgian Dream Chairman reiterates that the "radical opposition" is waging a treacherous campaign and using the ongoing war in Ukraine for protests.

"Today, Georgia is the only country in the world where the opposition is using the war waged by Russia in Ukraine as a pretext for protests and a campaign damaging the country at home and abroad," Kobakhidze said.

He called the speech made by UNM MP Khatia Dekanoidze on a Ukrainian TV channel "a clear performance of the radical opposition's treacherous campaign".

According to him, the only goal of the "fifth column" in the form of the National Movement is to aggravate the economic and social situation of the Georgian population with sanctions and to draw Georgia into war.

The correspondent of the Mtavari Channel in the US Demna Devdariani asked Price about the withdrawal of the ambassador from Georgia by Volodymyr Zelensky and the ineffective assessment of the sanctions imposed on Russia by Irakli Garibashvili.

Price noted that the principles Russia violated when it invaded Georgia in 2008 are the same as they are today in the case of Ukraine.

He said they call on all countries to uphold not only Ukraine's sovereignty, but also the legal order.
