According to Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, she does not understand and cannot tolerate the fact that at a crucial stage for the country, the government and the opposition forget that "strength lies in unity". She said this during her speech in the Parliament.
Zurabishvili said that today is a turning point for everyone, including for Georgia, because today we are facing a big challenge.
"But at the same time, as usual, history brings new opportunities with challenges, crises and wars. New roads are opening. Georgia should take its place on this new road right now. Let us wait to see what the future holds in store for us. This is the commitment of everyone who is sitting here before our country!
Time is running out! If we are not prepared for new developments, threats and opportunities - time will be wasted! That is why I do not understand at this crucial juncture, and cannot accept that today, instead of ending quarrels, squabbles, animosities, destructive confrontation and polarisation at this crossroads, you have gathered here to forget what is reflected on our coat of arms: "Strength in unity"! Society is far more sober, conscious, courageous and, most importantly, united than you are. Today I see that signs of national consensus have already awakened in the people, although I do not yet see it in you. Don't you understand what responsibility you all have together in front of your people?" - said Salome Zurabishvili.
Later, Zurabishvili also criticised the opposition.
