Mikheil Saakashvili was suddenly rushed to the Republican Hospital yesterday. The third president himself writes what he was told by doctors after being examined. He says that once again the need for immediate treatment was confirmed, which he says is out of the question in the penitentiary system:
"Yesterday, after months of appeals, I was taken late at night to the newly-built Republican Hospital. Electroneuromyography and gastroscopy were done there. The first procedure fully confirmed the diagnosis of various concussions of the brain that in the penitentiary system I was diagnosed with neuropathy, when I could no longer feel my limbs and various parts of the body and Wernicke's encephalopathy, which leads to motor and coordination disorders, memory loss and so on. A gastroscopy even showed numerous erosions, which is not surprising.
The republican doctors told me that if serious treatment is not started immediately, the illness will quickly worsen and end in disability or death.
Full treatment of these diseases in the Georgian penitentiary system is absolutely impossible. I think that the violence against me from the very beginning was meant to lead to such an outcome. I am writing all this because yesterday's diagnosis will be kept secret by the Ministry of Justice, as usual," Mikheil Saakashvili's letter reads.
