The Penitentiary Service is lying when they write that I refused the MRI examination - Mikheil Saakashvili

Georgia's third president Mikheil Saakashvili responds to the Prison Service's statement and claims that the refusal of an MRI examination is a lie. According to the third president, he needed an MRI machine of class 3 Tesla, while the Republican Hospital has only 1.5 Tesla.

"The penitentiary service is lying when they write that I refused MRI examination. The fact is that I need a class 3 Tesla MRI machine and the Republican hospital only has 1.5 Tesla and for a 3 Tesla machine you need a special programme which only one clinic has. What I was offered was a bluff and they are lying as always," Mikheil Saakashvili wrote.

The Penitentiary Service said yesterday that Mikheil Saakashvili had been hospitalised and transferred to a clinic on 13 March for a recommended examination. The agency said that Mikheil Saakashvili underwent an esophagogastroduodenoscopy and an electroneuromyography with his consent, while he refused an MRI examination.
