Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said that the sanctions imposed by the European Union against Russia should be further tightened.
He told a news conference in Batumi after a meeting with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili that Russia's barbaric actions against Ukraine were unacceptable.
"We must do everything possible to stop Russian aggression. We already want to deepen the sanctions already adopted by the Council of Europe and the European Commission. Another sanction should be added to every house demolished, bombed. This barbaric approach to Ukraine is unacceptable," Moravitsky said.
As for Georgia's participation in the sanctions against Russia, the Polish Prime Minister said that "voices are heard" about Georgia's passivity, but said that after today's meeting he was convinced that the country was doing everything possible to stop Russian aggression.
"There are rumours that Georgia is not fully involved in these sanctions, but the Prime Minister assured me that Georgia is doing everything possible to stop this aggression and to stand up for democratic values, for freedom and sovereignty of Ukraine.
Who better to understand the Ukrainians than the Georgians, because Abkhazia and South Ossetia represent 20 percent of the country currently under occupation. In Georgia the aggression of 2008 is still being felt. This is why Poland still supports and will continue to support Georgia on its EU integration path. We are convinced that every country has a right to choose the path it wants to. I would like to note that Georgia's place is in the European Union" - said the Prime Minister of Poland.
