Mikheil Saakashvili's imprisonment is an injustice to the Ukrainian politician, and I hope that the Georgian government will be prudent enough to release him in Ukraine

"The fact that Mikheil Saakashvili is in prison is an injustice to the Ukrainian politician," Liza Bogutskaya, an MP of the Ukrainian People's Party and a member of the "Servants of the People," said in an interview with the "Mtavari Channel" program.

According to her, Ukraine now needs a politician with such experience as Mikheil Saakashvili:

I think it is unfair to the Ukrainian politician that he is in jail. It is clear that he is also a Georgian politician, Georgia should be grateful to him for what he has done for the country, but we, as Ukrainians, are fighting for Mikheil because he is a citizen of Ukraine.

He was not a member of our government, but he was in charge of reforms in Ukraine and when he was in Ukraine he made very important decisions. I really, really hope that the Georgian government has enough wisdom and political strength to release him in Ukraine. We really need him here.

Also, he is highly respected as a global politician and will play a crucial role in ending this war as soon as possible. He showed a very strong stance during the Georgian-Russian war. A position that didn't bow to Putin," he said.
