"Read Strasbourg's decision first" | Mikheil Saakashvili's lawyer responds to Shotadze

Shota Tutberidze, lawyer of Mikheil Saakashvili, responded to the statement of Prosecutor General Irakli Shotadze, who said it would be "astonishing" if the defence considered the Strasbourg Court's decision to accept Mikheil Saakashvili's suit a victory.

Shota Tutberidze advises the Prosecutor General's Office to first familiarize itself with the court's decision before making assessments.

"I think that in order to assess the decision in Strasbourg the Prosecutor General's Office should read it first, because in it is written what the Georgian government was trying. The Georgian government didn't want this suit to pass and tried everything to prevent it. They brought up deadlines, inadmissibility of the complaint and the implementation of various rights. The Strasbourg Court did not take into account the arguments of the government, did not find them convincing, wrote this directly in the verdict and took into account the arguments of Mikheil Saakashvili," - said Shota Tutberidze.
