Support Mate Putkaradze, I have high hopes for you - Mikheil Saakashvili's address to the voters of Batumi

Published:

Georgia's third president Mikheil Saakashvili appeals to Batumi residents and calls on them to support Mate Putkaradze as a candidate for the 4th electoral district of the council.

"I want to appeal to residents and voters of the 4th district, Gonio, Kvariati, Adlia, Airport, Angis, Kakhaberi and Aghmashenebeli villages - support Mate Putkaradze in Batumi 4th district, do not sell your vote! A lot depends on this election!

There will definitely be a new government in Georgia in the nearest future. You and I would very much like this process to start with my very favorite community. I know many people there, I visited many families and I know what good people you are, I have high hopes for you. "Mikheil Saakashvili," writes Mikheil Saakashvili.

For the record, this election will decide whether or not the Batumi City Council will be in opposition. Mate Putkaradze is the son of late National Movement MP Nugzar Putkaradze.

Nugzar Putkaradze died on November 18, 2021. The UNM says he could not withstand the pressure and blackmail and his health deteriorated due to stress.

On November 24, the United National Movement released an audio recording showing that MP Nugzar Putkaradze was offered 100 thousand dollars in exchange for quitting the UNM and working as an independent member of the City Council.
High-ranking police officers from Aslan Abashidze's time were sent to negotiate with Putkaradze. The opposition also draws attention to the involvement of Tornike Rizhvadze's father, David Rizhvadze.

With Putkaradze's departure the majority in the Sakrebulo will be dissolved by the opposition. The records were made by Putkaradze himself and given to Giorgi Kirtadze a few days before his death.
