Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream, says Ukraine and its government have already had to abandon the idea of joining NATO, which was their original offer to negotiate with Russia. According to Kobakhidze, "Thank God Georgia is not in that situation today."
"This country, its government has already had to give up on joining NATO, which was its starting offer, imagine this being the starting offer to Russia. This is, of course, the worst situation. [...]
The rejection of future NATO membership was the initial offer of Ukraine, which is particularly unfortunate because it further exacerbated the picture that is actually being created. Ukraine offered Russia starting conditions for negotiations and has yet to receive a response from Russia. Ukraine was in this case the initiator of the rejection of NATO and adopting a neutral status. Thank God we are not in this situation today, so it is not relevant for us to discuss this issue at all," Kobakhidze said.
He expressed hope that this issue will not become topical in the future. According to him, the first task of the country is to avoid war and the situation in which a friendly country is today.
