Lelo introduced to the parliament a draft resolution on war crimes against humanity in Ukraine.
According to the draft, the Parliament confirms that on February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation carried out an unprovoked and unjustified invasion of the sovereign territory of Ukraine and a large-scale military attack on the state of Ukraine.
"The Parliament condemns the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the sovereign territory of Ukraine, which clearly contain signs of war crimes against humanity, as well as other grave crimes committed in violation of international law and systematic violations of human rights.
Calls on the international community to make all efforts to immediately investigate and prosecute war crimes committed by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the sovereign territory of Ukraine.
Calls upon all States to use the various international formats, platforms and mechanisms at their disposal to make President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation, the leaders and commanders of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, members of the Security Council of the Russian Federation and all relevant officials for the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine on, answer for their crimes.
Instructs the Georgian executive branch to work closely with the Ukrainian executive branch to share experience in documenting and prosecuting crimes committed by Russia in Georgia during the 2008 war.
The executive branch is asked to assist the Ukrainian authorities in the Criminal Court prosecutor's investigation and in the Commission of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights investigation, gathering the material needed to defend Ukraine's position, both bilaterally and in cooperation with the EU.
Support steps taken in all international formats, including the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, to hold relevant Russian representatives legally accountable."The executive branch is also instructed to support the suspending of Russian membership in the UN Human Rights Council," the draft resolution reads.
