I would like to thank the Seimas of Lithuania for the statement demanding my transfer to a European country and also thank Poles for many times raising this issue at the highest level - with these words Mikhail Saakashvili began his speech in court today.
Today the so-called Border Crossing case is discussed, to which Mikheil Saakashvili once again commented:
"The thing is, when we talk about crossing the border, someone "clever" said that Saakashvili came to Georgia because he was fleeing the war in Ukraine. I knew a lot of things for sure, but if I had known the exact dates and projections of this war, I would be on the front lines now, not where I am - behind this glass. If I wanted to flee, I could have done so in America, and in the Netherlands, and many other places, not in cell 310, where I am.
I came because I announced in advance that I had come by the safest route for everyone," said Mikheil Saakashvili.
