Denial of the right to health amounts to torture, there should be an investigation - Nika Gvaramia's appeal to the judge

Published:

Mikheil Saakashvili's lawyer Nika Gvaramia has filed a new petition with the judge, demanding a response from the relevant investigative bodies into the depriving of the third president of his right to health, which is reflected in the fact that doctors have not been allowed to visit Mikheil Saakashvili for several months.

According to Nika Gvaramia, the deprivation of the right to health amounts to torture and inhuman treatment and is a new episode, while the investigation of torture of Mikheil Saakashvili is already an old episode:

"I also ask the judge under Article 191 part one to refer the case to the appropriate investigative body for a response. The argument that Saakashvili's torture is already being investigated is untenable. We are talking about a new episode that occurs in connection with old episodes.

The new episode is a denial of the right to health, which conditionally equates to torture and inhuman treatment. Therefore, the competent authority must start the investigation anew. The participants here are different, the perpetrators are always the same and so I ask the judge to use the powers defined by both the first part and the second part. "Said Nika Gvaramia.

Before that, the lawyers of the third president petitioned the court to allow Empathy doctors to regularly visit Mikheil Saakashvili due to the deterioration of his health.
