"We categorically demand the transfer of Mikheil Saakashvili to another country where there will be a qualified and non-stressful environment" | Special Statement by Nika Gvaramia

"We categorically demand that Mikheil Saakashvili be transferred to another country with a qualified and non-stressful environment," Nika Gvaramia, the lawyer of Georgia's third president, said after leaving the 12th penitentiary in Rustavi.

The condition is critical. As we have seen in the report of ombudsman the situation is really critical, the transition is already going towards the terminal situation. The risk of lethal outcome is already high. Mikheil Saakashvili, I repeat that it is not that he isn't eating, it's that he can't eat, he just can't take food. You could get some exceptions in small quantities, and you know that the Georgian government has left him without them.

The cause is clear from the opinion of the Public Defender, and what we've been arguing about so far, including the alternative council, in the first place, is PTSD, or post-traumatic stress disorder, let no one think that it arises from childhood trauma. It's an outcome from these institutions. PTSD is double deciphered - it also ciphers post-torture stress disorder. We're actually dealing with that, and what we heard today from the public defender, in my opinion, is very clear, and without any alternative, that this man, who, by the way, is much worse now than he was back then, after the torture and the hunger strike, this man cannot get food, because of his stress condition and he must completely change his residence, to a place with no prison guards or anything alike, and be treated in a multi-specialty clinic, which we also heard cannot be found in Georgia.

Again, this is our conclusion based on the opinion of the public defender, and the demand that we have made so far is that Saakashvili be transferred to another country where there will be a qualified, non-stressful and non-traumatic environment. We demand this categorically and we need to understand that the government is aware of this situation of Mikheil Saakashvili, it is also aware that it is their responsibility, but in an absolutely deliberate and open way, so that even we can see it, they are bringing the man to his death. We all need to wonder why the Georgian Dream is doing this. Not only because Russia wants so, it can lead to other extensions, and I do not exclude that after the current Prime-Minister's statement that they want such a development because of Saakashvili's death, which I am sure will not happen, everybody knows very well that there can be serious problems in this country,  - Nika Gvaramia says.

Nika Gvaramia, CEO of Mtavari Channel also answers to Transparency International - Georgia's research on Bidzina Ivanshvili. He says the study is purely lawful and leaves no room for interpretation.

"I couldn't say anything about Irakli Garibashvili. We are dealing with a man who clearly and obviously has mental problems and does not belong to himself. At least this recording tells us that he is a boy in the hands of Ivanishvili, this has been revealed many times before.

Besides, Transparency International report was published today, which is absolutely unambiguous and leaves no room for interpretations. It is a purely legal study with its own schemes, what Ivanishvili is interested in and what his financial, economic and political interests in Russia are. In this case, we don't need investigate the authenticity or explain it in different ways, so I am very interested in the opinion of Irakli Garibashvili," Nika Gvaramia said.
