The meeting between the leaders of the "United National Movement" and the leaders of Konrad Adenauer Foundation has concluded.
As the chairman of UNM Nika Melia said after the meeting, that the discussion was about different current events in the country, but the main topic was the detention of the third president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and his health condition.
According to Melia, the German government and German NGOs are aware that in the current geopolitical situation, political persecution is a deterrent to the country's European integration.
"The German government and its non-governmental organizations are aware that in an important geopolitical situation in which the entire international political community is facing the most evil force in the world in the form of Putin's Russia, an additional source of problems for democratically persecuted people is, to put it mildly, a hindrance for us as a state to become part of the European future.
There is no argument by which anyone we meet can justify the actions of the Georgian Dream government against Mikheil Saakashvili. There is no argument to kill a man in prison, for there to be evidence of this, and to stubbornly say that this man, yes, must be in captivity. This person will not be in captivity, this person will definitely be transferred abroad for treatment and no matter what Mr. Kobakhidze and others say that Mikheil Saakashvili should serve a 6-year term there, this is out of the question. Mikheil Saakashvili will definitely have to be taken abroad for treatment," Nika Melia said.
For reference, the health of the arrested third president is deteriorating daily and is approaching a critical point. Doctors say every minute is critical. If the third president is not treated urgently and transferred to a multidisciplinary clinic, unsuccessful treatment could end up being fatal.
