"The politically motivated case is coming to an end" | Nika Gvaramia will appear in court today

Published:

Nika Gvaramia's final trial in the Rustavi 2 case will be held today at the Tbilisi City Court. The General Director of the Main Channel will deliver his final speech to the court today.

The case has been pending for two years and seven months. According to the lawyers, the case is political and during this time there was no evidence to prove Nika Gvaramia's guilt.

For the record, the trial will resume after a two-month pause.

"The politically motivated criminal case against Nika Gvaramia is coming to an end. At today's hearing, the defense will make a closing statement, we do not know if we will pass this stage, or if the parties also exchange remarks, also we do not know when the court will announce its decision, as the case schedule was repeatedly violated. Finally, for example, the court rushed to finish the case, but then, about two months ago, the pace of the hearing stopped for some reason," said lawyer Dimitri Sadzaglishvili.

According to him, the decision in any case will be political.
