The Ministry of Justice released a statement regarding Mikheil Saakashvili. Regarding the conditions of the third president, the agency writes that access for visitors will be allowed in accordance with the law and the recommendations of medical staff.
We offer the statement without change:
"Convicted Mikheil Saakashvili is not fully receiving the treatment prescribed, by his own decision. In order to minimize the possible risks of health deterioration due to his behavior, the Special Prison Service proposed to transfer him to a multidisciplinary polyclinic in the civilian sector.
The Department of Justice and its special penitentiary service have full confidence in Georgia's licensed medical facilities and the medical personnel working there to protect the health and life of the individual at all times.
Expressing unreasonable distrust in doctors and attempting to interfere in their activities without consent delays and interferes with medical interventions that are necessary for health.
We once again urge the convicted Mikheil Saakashvili to use the medical services offered to him unconditionally in his own interest.
Prison officials, in addition to providing medical care, are conducting various activities around the clock to ensure the safety of the convict. Any decision will be made on the basis of a reasonable balance between these two factors.
The admission of visitors will be in accordance with the law and the recommendations of medical personnel.
We urge politically engaged persons to refrain from any provocative actions that would prevent Mikheil Saakashvili from making a reasonable decision for him."
As a reminder, the ministry of justice offered the third president transfer to the Viva Medi clinic for examination. Mikheil Saakashvili agrees with the government's proposal, but on several conditions. The offered medical care will be provided to the third President only with the involvement of his personal physician and experts from the Council.
