In her 2019 report, the Public Defender devoted a separate chapter to freedom of expression, and here, along with the Adjara TV case, she named the cases of persecution of TV owners, including the case of Nika Gvaramia.
Nino Lomjaria directly stated that Nika Gvaramia's case is unfounded and the investigation should not have been launched against him.
We have assessed one charge related to Nino Gvaramia, which is related to embezzlement, and we believe that there are no indications of criminal offences in this case and we believe that it is a subject of discussion in the field of private law," said Nino Lomeria regarding Nika Gvaramia case.
A separate chapter in the Public Defender's report is devoted to the right to life. Nino Lomjaria believes that the right to life was violated when the President of Georgia pardoned certain people. The right to life was also violated in connection with the cases of Temirlan Machalikashvili and Ia Kerzaia.
The Public Defender 's report is quite extensive and covers the shortcomings of the judiciary, the situation in the media, and the gravest violations in the protection of human rights in the occupied territories. The report is currently being heard by the Human Rights Committee, after which both MPs and the Public Defender will move to the plenary session.
