Statements of 2017, which included the ones of embassies, allowed for additional robbery by Gvaramia of R2 - Kobakhidze

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream, the United National Movement, its satellite parties, the media, NGOs and foreign lobbyists are launching a new "hysterical campaign" on the case of the CEO of the Mtavari Channel Nika Gvaramia.

He said this at a party briefing. When asked if Dream thinks the UNM is behind the critical statements of the European Union, the United States and other Western partners, Kobakhidze replied, "We have no illusions that the National Movement is coordinating on such a scale. "

Nevertheless, he urges everyone not to repeat what they did in 2017.

The exact same statements were herd in 2017 and the exact same statements, unfortunately, including embassy statements, which was very unfortunate, allowed Gvaramia to rob Rustavi 2 for an extra few million, today we face the same situation, what is behind it? I do not know.  Nobody would believe that the UNM would have such resourses, it's ridiculous. It's very hard to see the statements included in the kind of campaign we're talking about. I don't know, maybe they are misinformed, we can hope," Irakli Kobakhidze said.

When asked further whether the statement means that embassies, according to Kobakhidze, are supporting Nika Gvaramia as a "criminal" and encouraging crime, Kobakhidze replies:

"When a critical statement is made without any basis, it is certainly a form of cover for the criminal. I don't need your questionings, take care of your own criminal CEO," Kobakhidze told the Mtavari Channel journalist.
