Dimitri Sadzaglishvili, lawyer of the CEO of Mtavari Channel, says that Nika Gvaramia does not yet have a TV in his prison cell, so visitors provide him with information about what is happening inside and outside the country in relation to his political imprisonment.
"Because he doesn't have a TV yet, he's completely disconnected from the outside world, and most of our conversation is about providing information - what's going on, what's the international response, what's the domestic response to his unequivocally political sentence.
We should stress again that in this case I don't think there is anyone who is not convinced that Nika Gvaramia was arrested solely for political reasons. All subjects that had access to case materials, all those who observed the court hearing confirmed that not only there is no evidence in the case but the case itself, even the prosecution version is a crime. Lasha Chkhikvadze has executed a political order and announced Bidzina Ivanishvili's decision.
Apart from the problematic content of the ruling, as in a democratic society no critical media leader can be arrested on such false charges, on the other hand the ruling, when the court announced the verdict, points to the sabotage in terms of EU integration. It is an openly declared decision by the government that they and Putin are in the same boat. I am deeply convinced that they will not be allowed to turn Georgia into a Russian province," Sadzaglishvili said.
