Georgia's third president has published a letter about his state of health, in which he writes that a magnetic resonance examination was carried out in a clinic, which showed a spinal cord injury and certain changes in his brain.
Mikheil Saakashvili writes that the spinal cord injury probably requires surgery. He said he has severe pain in his spine, causing him to have cramps, and he is finding it increasingly difficult to control his limbs.
MP Eka Kherkheulidze read Mikheil Saakashvili's letter:
"Since there is a lot of speculation about my health, I decided to speak frankly about my well-being. An MRI confirmed a spinal cord injury, which I most likely received in Gldani with the use of force. This injury, as I understand it today, requires surgical intervention. There is severe pain and sometimes painful tingling several times a day. I have severe tremor and dizziness in both hands and am finding it increasingly difficult to control my limbs, especially my left hand, I have constant severe pain in my lower extremities.
The neurosurgeon who examined me noted that the muscles may soon lock up and then it would be impossible to recover, I don't know what exactly that means, but what I do know is that it is becoming increasingly difficult for me to move, and I stay mostly in bed. The MRI also revealed some changes in his brain that I don't have accurate information about. Added to all this is a complete inability to eat food for several days.
The thing is, that things will not get better by just just urging me not to lay in bed or to eat, and everyone who knows me knows very well that a vertical position is not characteristic of mine and I have never complained of about apatite. We need a treatment completely devoid of politics, which at this stage is impossible to achieve in Georgia," read Eka Kherkheulidze.
For reference, Mikhail Saakashvili has been in the Viva Med clinic for more than a week, but the results of the hospital's tests have not yet been made public.
