Independent Media wishes Nika Gvaramia, who is in prison a happy Independence Day; Representatives from various critical media gathered in front of Rustavi's 12th penitentiary and wished the founder of the Mtavari Channel a happy Independence Day.
Journalists and friends of the Mtavari Channel addressed Nika Gvaramia from a spontaneously planned rally:
" I wish Nika and our citizens a Happy Independence Day. Long live Nika, long live Georgia's independence. I was walking on Rustaveli Avenue, towards Europe - that was the slogan written and I want us to really go to Europe and really, as a European democracy to have no political prisoners" Mikheil Sesiashvili, journalist and host of "Post Factum".
"This is a day that should be a big holiday for the whole country and I do not want May 26 to come again when there will be political prisoners in Georgia - a political prisoner president, a political prisoner head of critical media... This country does not deserve to talk about the same problems for 30 years We must end it once and for all, let's end this with Misha and Nika and move forward, let's move the country forward," says journalist Tengo Gogotishvili.
