A man under the age of 50 has recently been arrested for assaulting the office of the National Movement on charges of damaging someone else's property.
He was taken to the Gori police station and is facing 1 to 3 years in prison if convicted. Members of the United National Movement have blamed the government for the raid on the Gori office.
As a member of the party, Badri Basishvili says such cases are likely to increase as the elections are approaching.According to him, this is not the first case when the UNM office is raided in Shida Kartli region, but so far no case has been investigated, which has encouraged new crimes.
This is the fourth case of an attack on the Shida Kartli Regional Office. In previous cases, the law enforcement agencies were well aware that the attackers were individuals close to the Georgian Dream, including members of the City Council, - Basishvili said.
The attack took place at the office on Garsevanishvili Street in Gori this morning. The middle-aged man smashed the office windows with stones, as well as smashed party equipment and inventory. According to eyewitnesses, the man wearing a "Georgian Dream" T-shirt was particularly aggressive.
