Two men attacked us on Rustaveli, there was curses, physical assault - Khatuna Samnidze

MP Khatuna Samnidze writes on social media that she was physically and verbally assaulted on Rustaveli Avenue by two men.

"So this has happened too.

Two men assaulted us on Rustaveli, there was physical assault and cursing, I can't write anymore, I called the police" - writes Khatuna Samnidze

Police have detained the two men for the assault.

The MP said she brought the police to the scene and the attackers threatened them in the presence of law enforcers - "How dare you talk about the king like this - I remember these words".

Khatuna Samnidze told the Mtavari Channel that the attack was politically motivated. She identified one of the attackers as being an active participant in other homophobic protests.
