Georgia's third president Mikheil Saakashvili appeals to European partners to support Georgia's accession to the European Union. Eka Kherkheulidze, a member of the United National Movement, said this after leaving the Vivamedi clinic where she visited Mikheil Saakashvili.
"Despite his health condition, which, as you know, is not changing, despite his presence in the clinic, the situation is the same as it was before, today, in fact he had a working day, because he was trying.
He gave me numerous letters, because of his contacts and as you know, he is the most prominent Georgian in Europe and through his personal contacts he is trying to reach everybody and sent a letter before this important decision, which can now become such a historic and fateful decision for our country that we are all awaiting with mixed feelings.
In this regard, Mikheil Saakashvili has been able to say, through his connections and personal contacts, the most important thing that our country has to say. He is pleading for unequivical Georgia's EU candidate status and this message is in all these letters.
I have no right to make it public because it is a letter that needs to be sent to great capitals of Europe, which is important because today he was talking about how important it was when he was no longer President of Georgia at the signing ceremony of the Association Agreement, but together with the current Georgian President Margvelashvili he was the only one invited to this ceremony," Kherkheulidze said.
