Such a resolution is worthless - the chairman of the "Dream" party criticized MEPs today for demanding that Bidzina Ivanishvili be sanctioned and called them victims of fakes. Irakli Kobakhidze said the resolution to release Mikheil Saakashvili and Nika Gvaramia had nothing to do with European values:
"The resolution calling for the release of the enemies of Georgian media and democracy, Saakashvili and Gvaramia, and is calling Bidzina Ivanishvili, who today is distancing himself from politics and in 2012 restored democracy, media freedom and media pluralism for the Georgian people, a threat to Georgian democracy has nothing to do with European values and such resolution to put it bluntly, is worthless.
We hope that when Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova become members of the European Union, we will have a different European Parliament. A European Parliament who will be protected from the influence of fakes and defend true European values, which can act sovereignly according to its objective interests. "Said Irakli Kobakhidze.
It is to be recalled that the European Parliament Resolution on the State of Media in Georgia has been amended, according to which the MEPs demand the introduction of individual sanctions against Bidzina Ivanishvili.
