Senators and EU leaders have been pressuring the judiciary since 2012 - Kobakhidze

Kobakhidze, chairman of the Dream Party, accuses Western partners of pressure and interference in Georgia's judicial system and court. He says that since 2012, investigations have been obstructed by lobbyists demanding that no one touch the UNM:

"There was direct pressure on the judiciary. When statements are made by senators, EU leaders, top officials, etc. This has been happening since 2012. MEPs, heads of foreign affairs committees of the European Parliament, etc. When such politicized pressure is put on the court, the risk of influence is very high.

Is it not an intervention, when since 2012, they directly intervene in the judicial system and say that no one can touch the criminal leaders of the National Movement [?!]," says Kobakhidze on Palitranius.

When asked if all this was part of a political agreement between the government and the opposition, Kobakhidze said he didn't know very well what was going on before 2015 and declared that there was no agreement between the government and the opposition after 2015.

After the March 8 agreement, he said, it was said that no one would interfere in the judiciary, neither foreigners, nor the opposition, nor the government.
