Do you trust Putin? - The leader of the Qatar Economic Forum asked this question to Prime Minister Garibashvili after he spoke about the problem of Georgia's territorial integrity and said that the country should join NATO only after this problem is solved.
Irakli Garibashvili dodged the question and talked about how Georgia has been a victim of Russian aggression three times in the past 30 years, and in the 1990s Russia, according to Garibashvili, helped the separatists:
"I started talking about our experience. We had a full-scale war in 2008. In the 1990s, when Georgia regained its independence, in our regions, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, 30 years ago, they [Russia] helped these separatist groups, and in the last 30 years, we have been subjected to aggression three times. Our government's policy is to restore territorial integrity and sovereignty "on the basis of peaceful negotiations," Garibashvili said.
The forum host was again asked if he trusted Putin and his promises:
"We haven't had any contacts since we came to power. We haven't had any political consultations since 2012, there are only trade and economic relations. This is the reality in which we live," said Irakli Garibashvili.
