Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili says that he will no longer unravel the EU because Georgia has received from the European Council what it deserves. He says that's why he would have stayed in his seat and said more if it hadn't.
"I want us to clarify to the people, and you the following, I made the statement you mentioned after we heard and saw the completely offensive resolution passed by the European Parliament, including the active participation of our opposition, the direct participation of our partners, our lobbyists in the direct vote. My emotional reaction at that moment was absolutely deliberate and I did it consciously, and had it not been for my and my team's principled approach and public appeal to Europe, I could have reminded our opponents and their lobbyists and their partners that Georgia might not have received the deserved European perspective today. We have seen the risks of that. And meanwhile, as you understand, a completely unjust, insulting resolution was passed, and we said directly, without cover, unambiguously and unequivocally that we would not tolerate injustice and insult, and we will always have a very tough and harsh, fair, proportionate assessments.
I certainly would not have changed my position if we had not been given such a correct, fair decision, I would certainly have stayed in my position, I would have said more, but today, since we got what we got and it was deserved, we got what we deserved, I do not consider it necessary anymore to continue the discussion on this subject," said Garibashvili.
