Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili says that it may be better for us that we were not first granted candidate status and then were not asked to fulfill the conditions. He reiterated that the status is an incentive for Ukraine and Moldova.
"We say that they were also given conditions and reservations, that is, they were also given a gift, let's call it a gift. In our case we were first told that we could not receive the gift unless we fulfill the conditions. If you ask me, I understand the difficult situation in Ukraine, the destruction of the war, the difficult situation in Moldova and we are ahead of these two countries in terms of achievements and indicators, but maybe it is for the been better that we did not receive a gift in advance and then we were not asked to fulfill the conditions," Irakli Garibashvili said.
According to him, the end of polarization would have been less motivated after the "gift," while now the ruling team and the opposition have more motivation to fulfill the condition.
